Think back to your early twenties. What types of things were you doing? Parties, drinking, maybe some raving? Well 22 year old Jasmine Lawrence is celebrating the 10 Year Anniversary of her brand, EDEN Bodyworks, which she started at the bright age of 13. An age where most of us were doing what kids do. Going through adolescence. Stressing about homework, boys, and passing gym class. But Lawrence, haunted by the disastrous after effects of a botched relaxer, decided that she was done with chemically treating her hair. The worst of which made her hair fall out. She tried styles to hide the patch of missing hair but at that point made a conscious decision to rid herself of the ‘creamy crack’ in hopes of creating an all natural product for all hair types. Using the finest ingredients EDEN Bodyworks was born.
What’s her purpose? To provide an all natural alternative in an industry of tainted hair care products, that strip instead of nourish our hair. Before the natural phenomenon came to be. Before an abundance of curls, kinks, and puffs could be seen in a sea of racing people, many of us struggled with hair identity. Natural hair at one point was seen as unkempt, even unprofessional. Now it’s a whimsical dance of coils, all shades and colors, our natural state embraced, as we experiment with products and finally tame the Fro!..
Francheska Medina made an appearance as host for the event. She donned a flattering black dress, making one on one connections with each person who spoke to her and also hugging it out with followers of her blog and videos. She provided helpful tips about health, nutrition, and fitness. Her killer body shows that her natural lifestyle has paid off. Va-Voom!
A little fact you may not know. Lawrence was featured on the Oprah Winfrey talk show years ago, expressing her unfortunate experience with chemical processing which lead to her fortunes as a founder of her own brand. She is looking to expand the line in the near future so be on the look out.
All attendees received an amazing Swag Bag of EDEN Bodyworks goodies. It was full of fantastic samples like leave in conditioners, a hair pudding, a co-wash cleanser, shampoo, etc. And an awesome full size Coconut Shea Hair Oil. Great for adding moisture and shine without the build up. I’m thinking about doing Senegalese twists for the Fall so this will come in handy. At the end of the event all the full size products we’re up for grabs but those naturalistas were fast. LOL My sister nabbed a hair masque and upon leaving a nice lady slipped her an edge control gel she’d been dying to try. All in all this was a fun event was full of music, networking, and Fro’s! Maybe we should start a Fro’s before Bro’s hashtag. IJS
